AAGAMAN- The Induction Programme of the 15th Batch (2015-17) of LJ MBA

The L J Institute of Management Studies had organized the Induction Programme- AAGAMAN for the 15th batch of the LJ MBA on 2nd August, 2015 in the main auditorium of LJK at LJ Campus Sarkhej, Ahmedabad. The Induction Programme was organized for students of LJMBA (LJIMS first shift and second shift, Management Institute under LJMCA, Management Institute under LJIET). The Induction Programme was thoughtfully conducted in two parts. The first part being the formal introduction of the Lok Jagruti Kendra Group and the Institute and in the second part the students were inducted to the system, pedagogy; with a snapshot of future journey in the two year management programme.
Part 1
Although the admission process was going on, the Induction Programme was organized to synchronize it with the Induction Programme organized by GTU for all the management Institutes at the same time through Google Hangout. The first part of the Induction Programme started with on an auspicious note by offering prayers to Lord Ganesha who is also known as Vinayak- the remover of obstacles. Following, the event proceeded ahead with the lamp lighting ceremony by Dr P K Mehta- Director LJMBA, Dr Siddarth Singh Bist- Dean LJMBA and the directors of other Institutes of L J Group. Proceeding further, the audio presentation of L J Anthem was made which was composed by the students of LJ MBA 2006-8 batch. Also, to introduce Lok Jagruti Kendra (LJK) to the new aspirants, a documentary on Lok Jagruti Kendra was presented through a audio/video presentation.
Dr. P K Mehta, Director of LJMBA welcomed the new batch of MBA and other dignitaries and gave a detailed introduction of culturally rich Lok Jagruti Kendra and talked about its establishment and growth to the students. Dr. P K Mehta gave guidance on how much a student can explore in a management programme and grow into a new individual.  Thereafter Dr Siddarth Singh Bist- Dean LJMBA gave a guideline to the new aspirants on becoming a successful future manager and explained how management studies is different from other courses and how it will add value at the end of two years.
The Induction Programme proceeded with the ‘Welcome and Induction Programme’ organized by Gujarat Technological University for first semester students. This created a platform for the first time where the students interacted with Hon. Vice Chancellor Dr Akshai Agarwal through inter-connection Google-Hangout. ‘The Welcome and Induction Programme’ was addressed by Hon. Vice Chancellor Dr Akshai Agarwal through a vision speech on ‘Careers in Professional Courses’. Dr Akshai Agarwal presented in detail the current scenario of economic developments and how the new aspirants can prove to be very constructive contributors. He exhorted students by stating the importance of management studies and listed how it can add value to ones’ thought process and personality. Sir mentioned that India is rich with talented people and also supported the ‘Make in India’ revolution; the motto of our honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. This was followed by a vote of thanks by Dr Siddarth Singh Bist, who thanked Dr Akshai Agarwal Hon. Vice Chancellor of GTU for adding value to the induction programme through his igniting thoughts.

Part 2
After completion of admission process, the second part of Induction Programme was conducted for all the enrolled students on 19th September, 2015. The programme was designed with clear objectives of providing a snapshot of the two year management programme and a guideline for the students to enhance skill and efficiency required for future managers. With the objective to reach each student and answer their smallest query, the second part of Induction Programme was conducted separately for all the six sections of semester I.
The faculty members were assigned sections for the discussion about the following aspects:
a) Induction to the Institute
b) Summer Internship Programme
c) Final Placement

a)      Induction to the Institute:
An Induction Presentation was made by the faculty members who gave the details about the below mentioned aspects:

·         Guidance about Specialization Selection
·         Projects
·         Evaluation pattern followed by the Institute and the GTU
·         Pedagogical methods followed by the Institute
·         Importance of attendance and discipline
·         The infrastructural development for effective learning
·         Placement enabling workshops conducted by the Institute
·         Value-adding Programmes- CRADLE- Capability Recognition and Development Lessons for Entrepreneurship, MAX- Marketing Excellence Series, FINEX- Financial Excellence Series, HREX- HR Excellence Series, Industrial visits- Explore, Vikalp- The Case Study Forum
·         Antrapreneur- The New Business Incubator
·         Seminars  and student activities
·         Annual festivals and youth festivals

b)     Summer Internship Programme (SIP):
The SIP presentation gave a detailed guideline stating its importance academically and in careerline. The students were briefed on topics like:
·         What is SIP and objectives of SIP    
·         Types of projects undertaken for SIP
·         Summer Placement Highlights of 2015
·         Companies with whom the Institute had collaborated for SIP
·         To-Do list for the SIP
·         Evaluation pattern
·         Guidance for report preparation and presentation

c)      Final Placement
The placement team of faculties made a detailed presentation about the activities conducted round the year

·         Resume Preparation
·         Mock Interviews
·         Simulation Round
·         Major Recruiters
·         Placement Activity Calendar of 2015-16

As the sessions were conducted section-wise, the students got the chance to come up with their queries openly. The students were given 2 years Academic Calendar at the end of the session and the general guideline pertaining to discipline for the students. The event concluded with light refreshments. Thus, the entire Induction Programme- AAGAMAN resulted into a very fruitful exercise.
