EXCELLENCE SERIES
LJ MBA always strives to provide its
students a perfect combination of theory and practical knowledge.
The institute offers three
specializations i.e Finance, Marketing and HR.
The university has designed a
detailed syllabus for all the three specialization aiming to provide utmost
clarity on the theoretical concepts. Adding value to the same LJMBA organizes
exclusive series called FINEX, MAX, and HRX for strengthening the practical
concepts of the students and help them understand corporate dealings in the
same.
HRX – HR
EXCELLENCE SERIES is one of such programs and it is organized every year.
Program details
OBJECTIVE: To expose students
towards the dynamics of the HR field. It shall help them understand and strengthen
various concepts of HR through direct interaction with HR experts from the
industry.
The series
focused on classroom interaction
The interaction was organized on 1st
& 2nd September, 2016
The series was organized only for 2nd
year HR specialization students. In all 40 students had participated in the
program.
Eminent HR experts were invited from
different industries like Pharma, FMCG , Hospital, Hotel, Mutual Fund, IT and
Government.
A separate slot for alumni
interaction was created where in Alumni who had made it large in HR in their
respective industries were invited to interact with the students.

Day 1 – 1st
September, 2016
Speaker 1 –
Mr Ashish Dhomse – General Manager - HR at Vadilal Industries .
He
discussed about his HR career path. His major focus was on developing listening
skills. For him self updation was a mandatory thing to survive in HR and
believed that placing the right person
at right time on right job and managing timely salary were one of the most
important things in HR. He discussed various skills and competencies required
to be a successful HR professional.
Speaker 2 -
Mr Dev Vyas – Head – Corporate Training at Sterling Hospitals.
A
very dynamic personality who focused on the
practicalities involved in implementing HR practices in the corporate world.
According to him, HR people should always be on the ground and know their
employees well inorder to deal with them. For him, confidence was a very
important skill that the HR people should possess.
Speaker 3 –
Mr Parminder Dhiman – Head HR – L & T Mutual Fund.
He
talked about self assessment as an important tool to excel in one’s career.
Focused on issues and challenges while interviewing freshers. Discussed about linkage
between HR strategies and business growth. Some take away points from his
session were “ Always have a mentor in you rlife “, First address the problem
and then take the responsibility to solve it” ,
Speaker 4 –
Mr Shirish Gadgil – Director HR – Hyatt Regency
He
discussed about his own experiences of dealing with HR issues and gave some
examples on the same. He emphasized the fact that HR person should live the
life of the organization and should be very much balanced. HR person should
know were they should be strict and were they need to be liberal. According to
him an HR professional should be transparent and should have courage to tell
the fact on the face without any biasness. For him , HR is at the centre in any
organization.
Day 2 – 2nd
September, 2016
Speaker 1 –
Mr Bhavesh Upadhyay – Vice President – HR at Intas Pharma.
He focused on details involved in
executing and practising various functions of HR, right from recruitment till
the exit process. He shared his personal experiences of heading the HR
department in various companies and shared how HR is different in different
industries.

Ms
Umeromaan Saiyed – Gujarat Maritime Board , Ms Priya Soni – Connection Phase,
Ms Nirali Shah – HDFC Bank, Ms Jinali Shah – Web I Technologies
Alumni Interaction proved to be a
very interesting slot. The students could relate very well with the alumni
speakers as these speakers were the one who had grown from the same place were
the student participants were currently .The alumni speakers shared their
journey from being a fresher to becoming a HR professional and what different
challenges they faced during this journey.They also shared their various
experiences of dealing with employees in their respective industries and how
can one relate the theoretical concepts learnt from the text books to the
corporate world.
HR
excellence series turned out to be a prolific learning experience for the “HR
professionals in making”. Its true purpose of enriching and adding to the
knowledge of the students was remarkably served.
